Ready for outing to bistro de Lagarde

In either a “maison de village” in the Heart of a charming Medieval where you become a part of la vie de village, come and go as you please or/and in a lovely villa, walking distance in a beautiful country setting, so you can experience the joy of the country side near by with its enticing sounds and fragrances.

Below is a list of some of the wonders we will be surrounded with and will leisurely be experiencing. Most are at a short distance from where we will stay.

Since we are a very small group, choices will be made according to the weather, (usually from very good to even better-300 days of sunshine in average) open-air market days in some favorite villages, local happenings, our input etc…

Gordes, Lubéron

Step in the past, explore, be in wonder through

  • Numerous Medieval villages : Gordes, Roussillon, Bonnieux, Lacoste, Ménerbes, Village des Bories…
  • 12th century Abbey, and Cathedrals
  • A breathtaking sight and sound in Les Carrières de Lumière following a visit to the unique Château des Baux de Provence

  • Panoramic, historical or from one medieval village to the other, nature trails will charm you
  • Store held local Farmers, open air Farmer’s markets in medieval villages, Olive Mills
  • A must visit to Cassis, either enjoying the Calanques by boat or by foot. Either way or both, you will experience stunning and dramatic landscapes
  • Isle sur la Sorgue, the Venice of

    Fontaine de Vaucluse Luberon

Provence, is famous for its antique markets and its market days. Notre-Dame-des-Anges church in the center of the “vieille ville” was a Collegial church in 1222. Surrounded by a maze of canals, Isle-sur-la-Sorgue has many ancient water wheels as well as many Pedestrian streets with a very wide variety of shops of all kinds. And most are interspersed with terrace cafés and restaurants

  • La Sainte Baume, where Mary Magdalene devoted herself to prayer and solitary contemplation during the last 30 years of her life
  • And many more…

Famous Dishes of Provence

Just a few of 400+ fromage

Few of the 450 French fromages

Provence is the birthplace of three world-renowned dishes: salade Niçoise, ratatouille Niçoise, (both from Nice), and la bouillabaisse, a delicious savory fish soup or stew from Marseille.

To name a few other less known Provence dishes: L’agneau de Provence, La daube or bœuf en daube, Les grenouilles à la provençale, Le lapin à la provençale, Le riz de Camargue,

In Provence, you will

  •  enjoy Aioli, Tapenade, AnchoïadePistou, which is the Provencal equivalent of pesto
  • taste saucisson d’Arles
  • sample the best olives and olive oil
  • discover wild fresh herbs while taking a hike in nature

And… Ahh!!! The Calissons d’Aix from Aix en Provence, delicate sweets that are shape like a petal and consist of a delicious almond/fruit paste topped with icing et Ohh! Le Nougat from Montélimar… Les fruits confits (candied fruits) from Apt

Some of the wine choices in Provence are le côtes-du-rhône, le châteauneuf-du-pape, muscat de beaumes-de-venise, le rasteau, côtes-de-provence (red or rosé) without forgetting the Pastis as an apéritif, a ritual in provence after a day of work

“How can anyone govern a nation that has two hundred and forty-six different kinds of cheese?”
Charles de Gaule  (That was in the 1960’s. Now it is more like 450 different kinds …)
